Drive-In / Drive Through racking system provides maximum storage capacity using minimum space. The drive-in racking system is particularly suited to store vast quantities of homogeneous enzyme products. This racking system consists of continues lanes of racks with a single loading and retrieval aisle. Some drive-in racking system has a wall or is closed from the opposite end.
Drive-In Racking operates based on First in Last out (FILO); therefore, it is best suited for less SKU’s with high volumes which generally require multiple lanes to store.
Access aisles in Drive-In Racking System are positioned on either side of the racking block, which offers the advantage of picking and replenishing independent of each other. This also allows for first in first out (FIFO) principle of operation.
This system requires operators to drive into the racking system from the same side (aisle) to load or remove loads.
The drive-in Racking system is exceptionally efficient storage concentration of the product. Pallets are stored back to back without any aisle, making it a highly dense storage system. This style of a storage system is an excellent solution for a product that is not necessarily time/date sensitive or even fast-moving pallets.
Drive-in rack operators must be cautious not to damage the Racking, as the pallets are stored so densely, and the driver must enter the racking system with only a small clearance on either side.
Drive-in racking system warehouse must have regular rack audits to assess any damage done to the racking system. Any damage noticed should be reported immediately and repaired, and damaged parts must be changed quickly. A strict safety doctrine must adhere to a Drive-In racking system operation.
