Inspections shall be carried out on a regular basis, and at least once every 6-12 months. The purpose of this inspection is to not only inspect the racking system but also examine the procedures laid down in the facility for rack safety. All errors and damages on any kind should be reported in writing to relevant authority for immediate change/repair to avoid any serious injury, damage or accident.
REGULAR Inspection of storage equipment should be made systematically; an evaluation should be reported of any damage found.
a. Ensure the correct application and use of the equipment;
b. Ensure that safe working loads are adhered to;
c. Ensure that the racking installation has not been altered. A copy of the load application and configuration drawings shall be retained
for this purpose
d. Examine the extent of damage due to impact in the racking installation;
e. Examine the out of plumb of the racking;
f. Examine for any dislocation and deformation of sections and connections for uprights and beams; and
g. Examine connectors for deformation or signs of cracking at the welds.
