Drive In / Drive Through racking system provides maximum storage capacity using minimum space. Drive in racking system is particularly suited to store very large quantities of homogeneous enzyme products. Drive in racking system consists of continues lanes of racking with only a single loading and retrieval aisle.
Drive in Racking operates on the basis of First in Last out (FILO), therefore it is best suited for less SKU’s with high volumes which would require multiple lanes to store.
When operating in drive through racking system access aisle are positioned on either side of the racking block. It offers the advantage that picking and replenishment can take place independently of each other, this also allows for first in first out (FIFO) principal of operation.
Drive in racking requires operators to drive into the racking system from one side and remove pallets from the same entry point. Some drive in racking system has a wall or are closed from the opposite end.
Drive in Racking system is extremely efficient storage concentration of the product. Pallets are stored back to back without any aisle making it a highly dense storage system. This style of storage system is an excellent solution for product that is not necessarily time or date sensitive or fast moving pallets that require frequent rotation.
Drive in rack operators must be very careful not to damage the racking, as the pallets are stored so densely and the driver must enter the racking system with only a small clearance on either side.
Drive in racking system warehouse must have regular rack audits to assess the damage done to the racking system. As soon as a rack damage is noticed it must be reported and either repaired or the damaged parts to be changed immediately. A strict safety doctrine must be adhered with a Drive In racking system operation.
